We have asked our members to contact their City Council member calling for a 24-hour shelter continuity plan. For consistency, David Murphy has crafted the following talking points to use in our communications:
- It is important that Palm Springs and Riverside county extend the seasonal 24-hour shelter/cooling center located at Untied Methodist beyond Sept 30th or establish an alternative temporary shelter until a permanent Navigation Campus is available.
- Our community and the unhoused population needs a 24-hour facility for both humanitarian reasons and to prevent further civic degradation.
- The PSPD Homeless Outreach Team can not encourage or direct unhoused people to move off the streets without having a shelter facility available to them.
